What’s in a name?

In the afternoon hours of Thursday, May 19th, Melanie Novak holds a press conference about a very important new addition to the family.  Below is the transcript from this press conference.  The views and opinions expressed by those partaking in the press conference are not necessarily those of 5 Novaks and a Bus since all present are mere figments of the imagination and not real in the physical sense.

Melanie-“Hello.  I’ve brought you here today to make an announcement regarding the Novak’s mode of travel.  As most of you know, we will be departing in late September of this year to embark on a 10 month journey around the US.  You may have noticed some confusing changes on the website and I am here to address those now.  Yes, you there in the front from the AP, you have a question?”

Reporter McPocketprotector-“Yes, we noticed the horrific grammar.  We just figured you didn’t get past the 5th grade.  Why is that news worthy?”

Melanie- “Excuse me?  I ain’t got no idea what you be talking for.  Me good at writing!”

Nasally Voicowski- “I think perhaps she’s referring to confusion in regards to the ridiculous jokes she makes.  They are not humorous and therefore should not even be categorized as jokes.  I, myself, left the blog feeling lost and confused.”

Melanie- “How about I start my next joke with, ‘A reporter walks into my fist…’!  How would that sound, Sir!!??! No, that is not the confusion I was referring to.  NEXT!  Yes, you.  The representative from ABC news.”

Lady VanPantsuit- “She’s CLEARLY talking about the most confusion thing on her blog.  All of the sarcasm!  I for one just do not understand the sarcasm.”

Melanie- “Ok, wow.  You’re all really doing a GREAT job at figuring out the confusion on the blog.  You are just PHENOMENAL journalist.

Lady VanPantsuit- “Thank you!”

Melanie- (eye roll) “How about I spell it out for you.  You may have noticed that the section titled ‘Harvey the RV’ has been changed to ‘? the RV’.  If anyone was wondering what this was all about, I’m here to explain now.  Harvey the RV served us well as a starter RV as we delved into figuring out what kind of an RV lifestyle we would lead.  But, now that we’ve decided to go fulltime in an RV for a year, we decided to upgrade.  And that’s where you come in!  We Novaks, being an indecisive bunch, need YOUR help naming our new RV.

The room ignites in “ooooohhh”s and “ahhhhhhh”s and cameras are all a flutter with clicks and flashes!  Hands go flying up in the air with questions/comments.  Melanie calms the crowd.

Melanie-“Alright, alright!  Everyone please hold your questions until the end of the press conference.  Let me give you the details first on the new RV and then on the vote itself.  Our new RV is a 2016 Fleetwood Bounder.  Here’s what it looks like. (Melanie holds up picture)

“As you can see, it’s got those ridiculous ‘swishes’, or whatever they are, all over it.  Not sure why RV manufacturers are all in love with these perplexing swishes, but I digress.  It’s a 36H bunkhouse and has three slides…

Nasally Voicowski- “Water, twisty, or the Electric?”

Melanie- “Wha…. OH, um, no. Pop out.  Pop out slide.  You’re not allowed to talk anymore.  Moving on.  Three slides, 1.5 baths, and tons of storage!  Each member of the Novak family has picked one name to be in the running.  The final decision will be left up to the public to decide.  The voting will last three days.  Votes can be made on facebook, and also in the comments section of the blog.  Here are the nominations for the name:

  1. Joey
  2. Buster
  3. Fluffy
  4. Sydney
  5. Angry Bird

Melanie- “Once the votes are tabulated, we will announce the winner on the blog and Facebook page. Happy voting everyone!  We can’t wait to see what you choose!

  1. Melanie holds up picture upside down?….
1 vote for Sydney and 1 vote for Buster because I simply cannot decide. Throw out my vote if it’s against the rules:/

    1. I don’t know why it’s showing upside down for you! It looks right on my side. 🙁 Although, that would be something I would do…. I can count one vote for you and one for Jonathan! That works.

      1. The picture is upside down on my phone, too. Maybe an Android thing? *Insert Evil Robot music*

        1. It seems to be a problem with the picture itself because I took it with my iPhone and not all computers correct the direction… or something technical like that… Thanks for Voting!

  2. Buster! Although I think Seymour is good because you want to “see more” places, ha! (Insert sound effects: drum. Ta- da-dum and a double knee slap)

    1. Thanks, Kelly! I actually really like Seymour too!

  3. I’m gonna go with Sydney. It just sounds like a travelin’ name!

  4. I would like to throw another name in the hat “Gulliver”, because you know that “Gulliver Travels”. I’ll share this name with you because I’ll be naming my golden doodle puppy this next spring when I pick him up in GA. He will also have his own travel page 🐾🐾
